Chemical-Plant Calibration Records: A Published Work-Order Integration Case

Review an attributed Braskem calibration-management example, then prepare a pressure-test record that connects instrument identity, measurements and maintenance review.

The published example and its owner

Beamex describes Braskem America's integration of calibration records with SAP and Maximo maintenance workflows. This is Beamex's published customer example, not a WESIVO installation. The source is linked below.

The pressure-test handover plan that follows is WESIVO editorial guidance for a separate project. It does not claim the same software integration, approval system or time saving.

Keep the location and the physical instrument distinct

A maintenance tag identifies a process duty; a serial number identifies the device actually tested. Record both, together with the work-order reference and procedure revision. When an instrument is replaced, retain the old device's result and identify the new device separately. Reusing the location tag should not silently attach an old result to a replacement.

For a pressure bench, also list the reference instrument and the pressure source as different items. A pump creates pressure; it does not independently establish the applied pressure value or the uncertainty of the comparison.

Define the record before taking measurements

Specify the pressure type, units, test points, direction of approach and the agreed observation method. Identify whether the scope is the instrument alone or a wider measurement channel. Record the reference identity, its applicable certificate information and the conditions required by the procedure.

Use separate fields for the reference reading and the test instrument reading. Keep missing observations marked as missing. A screenshot of a final display should not replace the underlying set of paired readings.

Preserve the sequence of work

Save the initial measurements before any permitted adjustment. If work is authorized, record what changed, who performed it and when; then retain a separate set of final measurements. Link both sets to the same job without overwriting the initial result.

A failed initial result should prompt the responsible team to assess its implications. A later acceptable result does not establish that earlier process measurements were acceptable. Use the companion technical guide to distinguish the two records and their limits.

Review the data before closing the job

Check that the record describes the device actually installed, the correct range, complete test scope and any unresolved issues. Attach the relevant reference documentation and the review decision. If a record is corrected, preserve its version history and the reason rather than replacing the original file without explanation.

Agree the handover format in advance. A spreadsheet, PDF and any structured export should refer to the same job and instrument, but this article does not prescribe a particular software system or electronic-signature qualification.

Enquiry and handover checklist

  • Instrument tag, device serial number, job reference and procedure revision.
  • Pressure reference, units, required points, medium and connection information.
  • Reference instrument documentation and the required comparison uncertainty.
  • Initial readings, any authorized intervention and separate final readings.
  • Reviewer, disposition, unresolved questions and requested output format.

Provide this scope with an enquiry so that the equipment and the required documentation can be reviewed together. Suitability depends on the actual duty and procedure, not only on a product family name.

WESIVO product roles

The site lists WESIVO 880 as a digital pressure gauge and WESIVO 521 as a pneumatic pressure source. They are enquiry entries for separate roles in a possible setup; confirm the selected pressure type, range, medium, connections and reference requirements.

Their publication does not establish a complete calibration system, an accredited calibration service, or compatibility with Beamex, SAP or Maximo. The published case belongs to a different supplier's system. Request the confirmed equipment configuration and deliverable scope for your own project.
