4–20 mA, HART or Modbus for Temperature?

Start at the controller

Obtain the PLC, DCS or data-logger input specification before choosing a transmitter. An analogue input, a HART-capable channel and an RS485 port are different resources. Confirm which channels are available, what engineering units the software expects and who will implement the integration. This can prevent purchasing a usable instrument with an unusable interface.

Use analogue and HART options intentionally

TT102 offers an isolated 4–20 mA option, while TT248H provides 4–20 mA with HART. If the receiving channel reads only current, establish how configuration and any required digital information will be accessed. Confirm the loop arrangement and compatible tools from the product documentation rather than assuming every analogue input supports HART communication.

Treat Modbus as a system integration task

TT485 is an RS485 Modbus temperature-module candidate. Request its register map and communication instructions. Agree device addresses, communication settings, data representation and the handling of invalid readings in the host software. RS485 describes an electrical interface; having an RS485 port alone does not establish application-level compatibility.

Confirm a sample integration

Provide the controller model, input specification, preferred signal, number of points and required update interval. Test a representative module with the actual receiver before a larger order. Keep the configuration and acceptance results together so later devices can be commissioned consistently and communication faults can be investigated against a known baseline.
