LEVEL MEASUREMENT / BUYER GUIDE

Level transmitter selection: prepare the right specification

Prepare a tank-level inquiry, compare available product families and request model-specific documentation before ordering.

Browse level instruments ↗

1. Define the measurement task

Do you need a continuous level value, a high/low alarm, or an indication at the tank? Specify the required measuring range, reference point and acceptable error.

2. Describe the medium and process

Provide the liquid or solid name, normal and extreme temperatures, vessel pressure, and any foam, vapour, dust, agitation or build-up. Include density information when available and note whether it changes during operation.

3. Send the installation dimensions

Include tank height and diameter, the proposed mounting position, nozzle dimensions and internal obstructions. For submerged installations, specify immersion depth, cable length and material compatibility requirements. A drawing or photograph helps explain the installation.

4. Confirm signal and documentation requirements

State the available power supply, required signal or communication protocol, display needs and control-system connection. List any required environmental protection, hazardous-area approval or calibration documents. Ask for evidence covering the exact proposed model and configuration.

What should I send for a quotation?

Send the medium, tank dimensions, range, process temperature and pressure, mounting arrangement, output, quantity and delivery country. If replacing an instrument, include its full order code and nameplate photograph.

This checklist helps prepare an inquiry; it does not confirm that a particular instrument is suitable or certified for your application. Final selection requires review of the exact configuration and its documentation.
