Before Connecting a Wireless Pressure Sensor to MQTT

Separate sensing, transport and application

The instrument measures pressure, a selected communications path transports data and an application presents or uses it. These are separate parts of the project. The WESIVO 728W catalogue lists MQTT and wireless options; ask for an explicit architecture identifying which components are included in the proposed supply and which already exist at your site.

Obtain an interface specification

Request the applicable protocol instructions, payload example, engineering units and device-identification method. Confirm how the receiving platform identifies missing, delayed or invalid measurements. A protocol name does not define the complete data model or guarantee that an existing platform can interpret the instrument without integration work.

Assign network and access responsibilities

Agree who supplies and manages the gateway, network connection and destination service. Ask the supplier to confirm supported authentication and transport-security features for the selected configuration. Keep access credentials in the operating system's approved secret-management process, and plan how configuration changes and device replacement will be handled by the responsible team.

Test the intended failure behavior

During a pilot, compare the pressure value at the device and destination, then observe interruption and recovery using the approved test plan. Check timestamps, duplicate handling and stale-data indication where the system supports them. Do not assign a monitoring link a safety-control role without a separate engineering assessment of the complete system.
